works great February 21, 2010 DaByuBoy (Las Vegas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works great, installs pretty easily if you've done something like this before. The wiring on the unit plugs right into the back of the factory radio but you will also have to connect it to a power supply. I tapped into the radio subout/remote/acc wire for the positive wire, it's the light green and yellow wire. For the ground I tapped into the radio ground, black and green wire. I also bought the clarion cable that has the 3.5mm aux input that I mounted next to the cigarette lighter plug. That gave it a nice clean factory look. I just plug my male to male cable from the mp3 player to the aux input and I'm good to go. The PAC unit has a gain control between the RCA inputs, you definitely want to turn it way down, read the instructions. I set mine about half way. You want to test it out before you bury it in the dash because it will be a pain to take it out to adjust it later. I chose half way because you can use the volume control on your mp3 player to adjust the level also. Basically you are using the headphone jack on your mp3 player to send the signal (high level signal) to the RCA jacks on the PAC unit. Because the volume level on your mp3 player increases the strength of the signal as you increase the volume you have to turn the gain on the PAC unit up or down to keep the volume of the factory radio as close to normal as you can. Like I said you have to play with it a bit to get it just right. If you don't do this and you connect you mp3 player to it and you have the volume cranked up on the mp3 player it will be extremely load coming out the radio which is not what you want. Think of it this way, the lower the volume you use on your mp3 player the longer its battery will last. The PAC unit only needs a small signal to work and there will be less distortion if you keep the volume on the mp3 player lower.
Best Aux Input Device April 15, 2010 A. Longacre 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While looking for the cheapest price for this item on various websites, I came to the conclusion that for 56.99 and free shipping the price couldn't be beat (ordered from amazon) This unit was relatively easy to install in my '05 focus as long as you realize before you buy this product there are two wires w/ stripped ends that must be connected to a 12v power source.... Just making some simple cuts in either the radio or powerplugs wires is enough to wrap the wires around the newely exposed wire and smashing them together w/ some needle nose pliers is good enough (I was too lazy to even tape the connections, though you might want to). I bought this item after seeing on another website that this and the PIE frd04-aux were the same unit... I chose this one however because I didn't read any reviews about it not working after a while as I did about the other one [also it was cheaper :)]... After installing this unit and playing some music w/ my itunes from my computer, to my astonishement, I realized it was better sound quality on my cars speakers than any CD I have used in my car... I highly recommend this device if you are looking for an effective way to add auxilary input to your car.
Does the Job April 16, 2010 R. Nicholson (Newport News, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This little guy gets the job done. The installation was pretty straight forward and the results are excellent. The audio quality is great, way better than that of any FM transmitter! The product seems to be a bit spendy, but overall I would definitely purchase it again. It doesn't charge your device or anything fancy like that. It only provides an RCA input (you can attach your own RCA to 3.5mm jack) and doesn't charge your device or anything like that. This gives you the opportunity to use it for any device such as a laptop or game system - pretty much anything with a headphone out jack.
Great! Definitely recommend it! May 30, 2010 Ryan Ducharme Works as promised. Easy to install. Sounds great. Would definitly recommend it to get rid of those pesky CD's!
Good quality basic Aux Adapter July 10, 2010 Evil Steve (Ohio) This is a simple to install aux input. I installed mine into a 06 Fusion, but plan to purchase another for an 07 Focus. The RCA inputs will accept any cable, since I have an iphone 3gs I purchased the appropriate charging cable and spliced that in as well.
This will not do anything fancy, such as allowing you to change tracks with your radio controls, or display track information in the radio display, but the sound quality is great (especially compared to FM transmitters), and it is cheap when compared to other devices.
